June 18 1861.
I have the honor to inform
you that the Portmaster at Chambushing,
Pa., has been instructed to forward the
mails twice daily to Haguetown Md.
over the Franklin RK. , provided that
is can be done as the rate of $30 for
mile for annum. The mails between
the above points hand not hereto fre been
carried by railroad, the RR loo. having
insisted upon demanding $ 100 for mile
per annum, which was deemed extravagent
for the service I an not yet advised
whether the bo have accepted or declined
the offer now made of $50 for mile
