Source Description

In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Lewis Tappan says he would like to be relieved of part of his subscription for Torrey if enough money has been raised for him. He then talks about a variety of subject matters, including Dr. Lafon’s success in procuring names for the missionary convention, his (Tappan’s) doubt regarding whether Phelps would do more good in Washington than in New York, and some ways to run papers more effectively. In the postscript note, Tappan asks Phelps for a loan of $250.
