Letter from Aaron Macy Powell, Ghent, N.Y., to William Lloyd Garrison, May 8, 1861

Aaron Macy Powell writes to William Lloyd Garrison expressing their regrets that that Garrison family was unable to attend their wedding ceremony. Powell expresses his hope that "this extraordinary revolutionary awakening" taking place over the nation will result in the quick death of slavery. Powell commends Garrison's editorial on the war in the Liberator, and affirms that the present is "no time to furl the banner of genuine vital nonresistance".
