Letter from Joel Hawes, Hartford, to Amos Augustus Phelps, June 30th 1834

In this letter to Amos A. Phelps, Joel Hawes says they’d better postpone Phelps’s speech on slavery because he does not believe they would greatly benefit from having it delivered on July 4th. He says he agrees with Phelps’s sentiments expressed in his antislavery lectures.
