Letter from Chauncey L. Knapp, Montpelier, to Amos Augustus Phelps, Aug. 17. 1839

In his reply to Amos A. Phelps’s inquiry, Chauncey L. Knapp gives a list of names of leading abolitionists in Vermont. He adds that “Vermont abolitionists, thus far, have kept themselves almost wholly aloof form the unhappy contest in Massachusetts.”
