Letter from William Henry Herndon, Springfield, Ill[inois], to William Lloyd Garrison, Jan'y 28, 1859

William Henry Herndon has spoken to some of the most prominent men in the state of Illinois and they support the publication of Wendell Phillips' speeches believing that "the spirit of the age demand" they are printed. Herndon concludes the letter by saying to Garrison: "It is my hope that I have never said anything in my letters to you, or your friends, that could wound you--I say I hope so; ..."
