Grieves to leave the Wayside but remembers Hawthorne was never happy here. Plans to go to Salem where Rose is at school; Una has broken her engagement to [Samuel] S[torrow] H[igginson]. Mrs. [Mary Porter (Tileston)] Hemenway visited them for the first time.
