3rd-2nd century BCE (Hellenistic) H: 3/4 in. (1.91 cm) Citation Source image

Gold sheet rolled into a cylinder, a rectangular window cut out and edged with smooth and twisted wire. The window is filled with a network of wire with granules fixed over points of contact. Narrow strips of metal reinforce the ends of the cylinder.
