Rubbing of an Epitaph Tablet
Rubbings of stone carvings have throughout Chinese history served as guides to the writing and painting styles of earlier times. This memorial or epitaph tablet honored Lady Fengyi. Around its sides were engraved fantastic creatures, including ram-headed birds.
