My dear Mies Koehn:
With the transfer of the American Red Cross-Harvard Field lospital
for Communicable Diseas S to the United States Aray, this service of
Red Cross nurses to the English Deople has been brougat to a con-
clusion. Twenty nurses lave returned to this country; 31 have
joined the armed forces in England, and 12 re engaged in other
allied war wor in England or Ireland.

that we should recall at this time tast this was the firit unit of
Red Cross workers to breve the dangars of crossing the ses in that
very critical period bofore our couitry went to war.
Not one American nurse lost her life by direct setion of the enemy
in the First orld ar, but in this conflict, six nonti18 bifore we -
ourselves became involved, five of our grouy of Red Cross murses
with their housemotaer did so sacrifice their lives. To see their
