My dear Miss Munma:

We have recently transferred your enrollment to the Second Reserve
because you were found to be physically disqualified because you are
overweight accordnigg to the standards of the Army and Navy Nurse Corps.
However, since you indicated you were available for service now, we
are wondering if you would be interested in civilian nursing service, in
Hawaii. The American Red Cross is assuming the responsibility of recruit-
ing nurses fep emergency civilian hespitals in the Hawaiian Islands. These
nurses are employed directly by the Emergeney Medical and Hospital Service
of the Territorial Office of Civilian Defense in the Territory of Hawaii.
Ás the o.c.D. is under the direct jurisdiction of the Department of the
Interior the nurses have she statué of emergency Federal employees. The
enclosed general information sheet will give you more details about this
service.
Will you please reply at once whether or not you ere interested as
we are now making some more appointments, and, if you wish to submit your
application for consideration for appointment, will you please fill out
and return the enclosed pink form with your reply.
