1 + on M Wi 3 ARC. a W.K.KELLOGG FOUNDATION OFFICE OF TRUSTEES BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN RECKIT Reforred to APR 22 1940 a April 19, 1940. a Miss Mary Beard, Director, Nursing Service, National Headquarters, American Red Cross, Washington, D. C. My dear Miss Beard: How much I should love to be at your party on Sunday and to stay with you all the week! However, as I am planning to stay over for the Biennial the following week and have been away such a long time this winter, I really cannot plan to accept your delightful invitation. I shall plan to get into Washington on Wednesday morning in time* to freshen up before your luncheon meeting, and assume that the meeting will be held at the National Press Club. I am writing for a reservation at Hotel Washington, and unless I hear from you to the contrary, I will come directly to the National Headquarters and get my ticket for the luncheon, which I should be happy to attend. I do wish I could have a chance to run out to see you and your sister in your home, but I am sure this is such a busy time for you that it would not be possible. I shall hope for that pleasure some other time. Again thanking you for your kind invitation, I am Cordially yours, trangusites wales Marguerite Wales 3 6, MW/ic x rain arrives 8 20 8 0
