Miss Mary Beard
Director of nursing service
American Red Cross
APR 261948
Washington, D. C.
Dear Miss Beard-
Being much interested in one of our
local girls, I am writing you for help, she is
Margaret Irene Somerville who was a member of Americal
Red Cross - Harvard Unit, serving in England. Outside
of Rickenbacker , probably had one of most harrowing
experiences of the war, as you well know.
The adjustment has been very hard for her , as
came home with her health much impaired. Was unable
to do any nursing until June, when had three months wit]
Henry St. Visiting Nurses Service, resigned to accept
a position on staff of nurses at New York State
Vocational Institution, and thus be able to live home
and fully regain her health, is now back to normal
weight, hopes sometime to continue with Public Health
work and prepare for post war period.
Can you tell me how to go about applying for a
fellowship or schol@rship?
