THE WHITE HOUSE
you
WASHINGTON
August 10, 1948
Dear Mrs. Roosevelt:
After reading your letter of August sixth,
I can fully appreciate all that you have to do before
your departure for Paris for the Third Session of the
General Assembly of the United Nations. Of course,
I had hoped that it would be possible for you to ac-
copt appointment as one of the Special Ambassadors to
represent the United States at the Golden Jubilee of
Queen Wilhelmina of The Netherlands and the Coronation
of Princess Juliana, but I quite understand why you
feel that you must decline.
I an more grateful than I can say for your
thoughtfulness in sending me a copy of the full account
of the Ceremonies in London at the unveiling of the
Memorial to President Roosevelt. This particular copy
will take its place among my treasured papers.
Very sincerely yours,
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt,
Hyde Park,
New York.
