On September 14, President Bush stood in Coleville, Washington,
before thousands of Northwest Timber workers, and vowed NOT to
signed the re-authorization of the Endangered Species Act, without
significant changes that take into account the human equation.
Now that the marbled murrelet has been officially listed, it is
even more imperative that President Bush honors his commitment to
the people in the timber industry and the rest of the American
people who have suffered inequities in the name of "species
protection".
We believe the re-authorization of this regressive legislation will
only lead to more suffering and anxiety, job loss and homelessness.
We are asking that President Bush VETO THE APPROPRIATIONS BILL that
includes funding for the endangered species act.
Perhaps then Congress will come to its senses and realize the
crushing pain this act is causing not only our economy, but our
people as well.
We have endured enough.

bill before him that includes financial support for the Endangered Species Act.
We strongly supported Mr. Bush's presentation in Colville, Washington last month
when he spoke on behalf of the timber workers of the Pacific Northwest and
Northern California.
We strongly support him in his bid for re-election and have worked closely
with his campaign headquarters in Bellevue, Washington.
The timber families in Washington, Oregon and Northern California KNOW, all too
well, that if Mr. Clinton and Mr. Core are elected, it will mean an end to our
