TALKING POINTS FOR THE PRESIDENT ON THE HIGHJACKING
1. I am deeply concerned for the safety of the passengers
and the crew on the flight, and I have asked to be
kept regularly informed of all developments.
2. Secretary Coleman last night directed Dr. John McLucas,
Administrator of the F.A.A., to investigate promptly
the boarding procedures undertaken for this flight
to see if there is any breakdown in security efforts
at Laguardia Airport.
3. I have also directed Secretary Coleman to make
certain that we continue to be vigilant at all U.S.
airports, and to make certain that passengers will
travel in safety.
4. I have asked Secretary Coleman to report to me on
what, if anything, needs to be done to improve present
airport security.
5.
TWA is negotiating with the highjackers not the U.S.
government.
