POOL REPORT : Pr sident to Capitol Hill Club.
September 10, 1975.
President departed the white house approx 7:05 p.m., accompanied
by Rumsfeld, Bob Orben, **** Paul Theis, Dick Chaney.
Trip to Capitol Hill club in full motorcade was uneventful.
At CHC was met by vr and Mrs. Rockefeller, Mr. and Mrs. Horold
(COLLIER)
Coller (He's pres of club), and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marke (He's
chmn of the reception.)
President mingled with guests downstairs at the $1,000 a couple
fund-raiser for the Club. All 300 available tickets were sold.
President then moved upstairs for brief remarks. Introduced by
Collier. As president started to microphone, Betty moved in
and said, "Didn't you know I was going to make this **********
Presentation?"
President looked surprised, stepped back... Betty acknowledged she
was only kidding.
"resident said: "The way she's been going lately, I thought she
might be serious." She wasn't.
He spoke briefly and informally, thanking folks for helping the
club.
Mingled some more. Departed.
Arrived white house after uneventful return trip at approx 8:20pm.
