THE WHITE HOUSE
The President today announced the appointment of five persons as members
of the National Advisory Council on Extension and Continuing Education.
They are:
For the remainder of the term expiring June 30, 1978
John L. Blackburn, of Englewood, Colorado, Vice
Chancellor for University Resources, University of
Denver, Denver, Colorado. He succeeds Thomas
Aranda, Jr., who has resigned.
For terms expiring June 30, 1979
Nancy M. Boykin, of Detroit, Michigan, Director,
Continuing Education for Girls, Division of Pupil
Services, Detroit Public Schools, Detroit, Michigan.
This is a reappointment.
John B. Ervin, of University City, Missouri, Dean
of Continuing Education, Washington University, St. Louis,
Missouri. He succeeds Newton Cattell, whose term
has expired.
Lee R. Kolmer, of Ames, Iowa, Dean of College of
Agriculture, Iowa State University. He succeeds Evelyn
Silas, whose term has expired.
Rosalind K. Loring, of Los Angeles, California, Dean
of the College of Continuing Education, University of
Southern California, Los Angeles, California. She
succeeds S.I. Hayakawa whose term has expired.
The Council was established by Public Law 89-329 of November 8, 1965 and its
membership consists of 12 members appointed by the President and one
representative from each of the following: Departments of Agriculture, Commerce,
Defense, Labor, Interior, State, Housing and Urban Development, Justice,
and the Small Business Administration.
The Council advises the Commissioner of Education on the preparation of
general regulations and policies to eliminate duplication of continuing education
programs.
