Transcript of an oral history interview by Dr. Burt Brown Barker who was one of Herbert Hoover's closest friends during their adolescence. Barker's recollections include insights into Hoover's personality and the development of his character by a very influential teacher. This relationship formed the basis for Hoover's poignant 1959 Reader's Digest article "Thank You, Miss Gray" which subsequently became a very popular Reader's Digest reprint. (A copy of the article is included in this project.)
