My dear Sir:
By direction of the President I beg to send you the
enclosed letter and accompanying papers from Representa-
tive Stephens rolative to the tax imposed by the Depart-
ment of the Interior upon certain live stock in the
Chickasaw Nation.
The President requests me to ask you to be good
enough to send him a report on this subject, with the return
of the accompanying papers.
