12- "Ferguson wires weather conditions prevent field work and asks to return to Lewiston where he states he belongs. He cannot be reassigned to Idaho; unless you can use his Y for services he will be transferred to another field. Wire an- swer and report by letter present conditions. " On December 18, Special Agent in Charge Schwartz wired 300 this office as follows: "Everybody works but Feguson; he is no good, and I have no use for him. See informal letters sent with daily reports Saturday and Monday last. " On December 19, this office sent the following telegram to Special Agent Ferguson at Malta, Montana: "Replying to your telegram of December seventeen, Spec- ial Agent in Charge states that you will not work, and that you are not.satisfactory as an agent. You are requested to tender your resignation at once." On December 20, Mr. Ferguson wired this office as fol- lows: "Demand hearing of written charges. Send same Ft. Ben- ton. Appeal to President for your persecution. 11 Very respectfully, Commis sioner.
