We look upon the motion picture industry as a real ally
to education. We use many of your pictures in our classrooms as
instructional materials after they have served their theatrical
use. We are impressed with the fact that these same pictures, while
showing in the theatres, resulted in a tremendous amount of mass
education. We are interested in mass education, too, for within
these masses are the parents whose viewpoint and culture
significantly affect the success of our school work.
By Earl J. McGrath, U. S. Commissioner of Education, Federal Security
Agency, Washington, D. C., concerning relationship of motion pictures
to education, on visit to Disney and Motro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios,
April 18, 1950, released to Los Angeles and Hollywood Press.
