To the Voters: HE DEMOCRATIC PARTY of this County is seeking the election of its Congressional, State and County Candidates by ballots intelligently cast. It asks you to vote for the Democratic Candidates on their merits and because of the principles for which they stand. TAXES! TAXES!! TAXES!!! In the last two years the cost of living has not been lowered as was prom- ised by Mr. Harding when he was seeking election as President; on the contrary, he lowered the income taxes on the rich, and by his tariff law has added from three billion to four billion dollars yearly to the already oppressive cost of cloth- ing, food and every article of necessity which the people of the United States must use to live. In the last two years Governor Hyde and a legislature which has done his bidding at each of three sessions which it held, lowered taxes substantially on corporations and on the income of the wealthy and on the other hand substan- tially increased the taxes on all farms and homes in the State. Here is its record: 1-It relieved war profiteers, large corporations and multi-millionaires from paying excess profits taxes to the Government amounting to approximately one- half billion dollars a year. 2-It enacted a tariff tax on every living necessity which makes all of the people pay from three to four billion dollars yearly as a pure bonus to the few
