GENERAL ORDERS
)
)
755
No. 4
)
Attention of all commenders is called to preveiling
violation of regulations concerning hair-cutting, as regards
both officers and men. The folloving extract of prragroph
286, A. . R. is quoted:
T*
The hoir will be kept short and
the benrd neatly trimmed. *
There is an erroneous idea thE t the military haircut
is to clip the hoir short at the back and above the ears,
leaving the hair long on top. This is not only a very
absurd and ugly custom but is also unnilitory The hair
will be kept short all over the head. It may be kept just
long enough to part, or clipped all over, at the will of
the individual. But close clipping at the back and over
the ears leaving long shocks of hoir on top will be dis-
continued.
This order will be read to the men and E copy fur-
nished all barbers, who will be required to cut hoir
according to regulations.
Commanders will ascertain by frequent inspections
that this order is being obeyed.
