MEMORANDUM;-
Battery Commanders will take immediate steps to impress
upon all men the importance and dignity of the duty of a sentinel
The safety and good order of the camp is directly in
the
keeping
of the guard. All men on guard should regard this duty
as
perculiarly sacred and all officers and men should treat sentinels
with the respect and dignity their office demands.
The stable guard should be preformed with the utmost
fidclity. These men have in their keeping thousandsof dollars worth
of government animals. Any carelessnese on the part of stable
guards may result in serious pecuniary loss to the government and
reduction in the effécency of the organization.
