'PRAINING MEMORANDUM ) ARCHIVES AND HECDRDS SERV ICE" NO. 4 ) the IX CORPS RIFLE MATCHES A Corps Rifle Match will be held on February 15th, 1919 át a place to be designated later in orders. Preliminary thereto, Division Commanders will stage Company and Regimental competitions within thoir Divisions, undrr such conditions as range and other facilities will permit, the competitions among the smaller units lending in turn to Divisional competitions, all with a view to stimulating excollency in rifle practice and selecting a Divisional team for the Corps matches. The conditions of the latter are as follows: ( ) ENTRIES: Each Division in the IX Corps on February 15th, 1919 will enter one team of thirty - two (32) enlisted men, with the DiviSion Ordnance Officer as Team Captain and wi th a Coach selected , from the Division, either commissioned or enlisted, as may be desired. The Corps Ordnance Officer will be the Executive Officor, and Team Captains will rep It to him with their teams in the range no t later than 8:30 on the me rning of the match, with complete lists f the members comprising their respective teams, including full given name, rank and rganization. Entrance fee - None. (b) RANGES AND KINDS OF FIRE: 1. There will be one skirmish run, with fire opening at ne t exceeding 1,500 yards from the targets; halts to be at the dis- cretion of the Executive Officer, and at unknown distances and for an unknown duration of time; fire to be at will, commencing at the first nute of "Commence Firing." on the bugle and ceasing with the last note of "Coase Firing"; advance, except to the first halt, to be at double time; firo to be from line cf skirmishers, with one pace interval between oach man, fifteen paces between teems, all téams competing at the same time; number of sh ts, n t exceeding 1,920 per team, 60 rounds per man being issued before the start OI the Tun; hits on any torget to score, 32 targets being established for each team; hits made cn targets of competing teams will likewis score, counting for th se teams respectively 2. At the conclusi ng I the run, se res will be taken off, targets cleared of 817 hits, and the run repented with con- diti ns the same as in the preceding run, with the exception that all fire will be at known distances, given cut by the Executive Officer. 3. 200 yards rapid fire, 10 shots, time limit 1 minute. t the command "Load, TT 5 cartridges will be placed in the piece, 4 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber, and the piece locked. it the command "Ready" biece will be unlocked.
