Dear Sir:
In sending you this gift package ordered for you through one of the stores
listed above, we feel we must explain and tell you how sorry we are about two things :
First, thé fact that we have been obliged to subtitute such 'eats as sweet
chocolate tablets, nuts, little cakes and biscuit, figs, dates, raisins, etc
for the now unobtaisable American Candy and tabacco which the original order
specified
Also in some cases; such always useful articles as soap, toothbrushes, tooth
paste and talcum powder have been included.
Second, the delay in sending you the package.
This has been caused by the unexpectedly overwhelming number of orders
received from home, for too many for us to be able to fill with supplies at hand.
We are now reorganizing our office here in Paris on a much better and broader
scale, so that we shall be able to send out promptly and satisfactorily all the
thousands of orders now coming to us from home
As you know, in this country at war many of the things we want most are
unobtainable.
Our work is one longeffort to secure the best of wat things there are.
We hope you will enjoy the contents of the package.
With our very sincere regrets, We are
Unudar
Very truly yours.
