Burris A. Jankins, Witor,
City Post,
Kansas City, Mo.
Dear Sir:
I ana inclosing you copy of a letter which
I have written to the Kansas City Star. It expresses
the foelings of a dejority of the boya of the 355h
Division, We have como to the poirit where when the
question is aaked: #To what Divieion did you belong?",
wo whon we anazer, The 35, the reply is going
to be: FOh, that's the Division they uro raising 30
much hell about.' It hurts. We would like to have
the controversy stopped begsuse we did our best and
feel we contributed somethal to the final result.
We want to thank you for the manner in which
you have written of the 35th and the fairness which you
have displeyed in all the articles which you have pub-
lished.
The artillery brigade of the 35th Division
hnd citations from the Companding General of the 35th,
the Commanding Coneral of the Blst and the Commanding
General of the lst Division, They wera nover published
by the Stor. It seemos to be the policy of that paper
to print only things that are detriments to the revuta-
tion of that artillery origade which was one of the few
artillery brigales to maire good in every branch.
I don't auppose the Star will ackmowladge my
comunication, and I am sending it to you, therefore,
to do with as you see fit.
Very respectfully yours,
HST-R
