ARTILLERY MISSION.
D
Translation of French Order, (35th D.I. U. S. Artillery ) of 30 Aug 1918.
PLAN OF C.P. and BARRAGE FIRE.
For the defense of the sector it has been contemplated to use the
following fires:
A- Normal Barrages to which correspond normal C. P.
B- Reenforced Barrage to which correspond reenforced C.P.
C- Eventual Barrages and .P, S.
D- Concentration fires inside our own lines.
As a rule mormal barrages are fired automatically by the Light F.A.
and Mountain F.A. Batteries (including the annex sections).
C.B. fires are fired by Batteries of all calibers.
The Heavy Artillery participatie in the barrage fire, either when
ordered to do so by the Artillery Commander of the Segment ( by the Art. C.
of the sub-Segment in emergency cases) or on its own accordin case of
indications of a serious attack. It will then fire its C.P.pire.
Rate of Fires.
a. Barrage. Period of 10 minutes duration.
75 and65- Rapid fire of 6 R.P.G. and P.M. during 3'

These barrage periods are repeated on any new request.

Rapid Firing Heaby Artillery - 2 R.P.G. and P.M.
90, 95, 155, Baquet, 120 Maximum Rate.
Repitition of the periods when ordered by Artillery commander
of the segment ( in case od emergency or trouble with liaison when ordered
by Art. commander of the Sub-Segment.

south segment Artillery: The HILSFNFIRST region.
The greatest number of batteries have
been
so
placed
as
to
accomplish
the mi ssion; Barrage HILSEN.
Only a few batteries (in MITTLACH VALLEY) have another normal mission
in
the region of kiosoupdwith possibility
(except
for

Btry)
for
eventual
reenforce the fire on the HILSEN.
These a normal missions of Barrage: HILSEN & KIOSQUE are started au-
tomatically by Infantry sending rockets.
The HILSEN normal barrage probides 3 different kinds of reenforeement
HILSEN reenforced barrage-Acting on the same front as the normal bar-
rage and including the reenforcement either by Batteries of the MITTLACH
Valley, either by Batteries of the Division on the Right.
Hilsen North barrage or Barrage A - Concentrated
on
the
northern
part
of the HILSEN normal barrage.
