Francisco to batteries 914 SPECIAL MEMORANDUM: In compliance with instructions contained in tolegram SD 2449 from the Adjutant General HAEF, and Captain Phillips, Amorican Red Cross, every possible offort will be mado to com- plete the information requested by the American Red Cross rola- tive to officers and soldiers who have died or beon killod in the A.E.F. on the Red Cross Form No. 604 distributed this dato. These reports will be made in duplicate and forwarded to the Personnel Adjutant these Headquarters not later than February 17th. One officer and one non-commissioned officor in each Regiment or separate unit will be detailed to assist in secur- ing this information. If, after a thorough investigation of each case no eye-witness can be found, that fact will be noted on the report. In any event, give all possible information on each man as it will be sent direct to the man's family at home from the Red Cross Headquarters. The following should be secured wherever possible: Where last seen, date and under what circumstances, when and where he was buried, was death instantaneous, his last words.
