All acting Town Majors in the Divisional area will remain at least 24 hours after the unit occupying their town noves out, to the end that they may settle any and all claims arising for damage to proporty by our troops. They will remain as much longer as may be nocessary to just and dispose of any claims. thus arising. 2. I maddately upon a unit moving ou't of its area the Acting pown Major will, in company with the French authorities, make a caroful inspcction of all premises occupied by our croops. They will obtain from the M>Yor or his Secretary a statement in writing to the effect that all claims have been adjusted that the billcts and promisos adjoining and the streets have beon proporly policed, that thoy have observed no damage to Fronch property by American Proops that has not been adjusted. 3. In the event of damage by our troops to French prop- erty, the owners of which are not in the town or not available, a survey of same will bc made in conjunction with the French Mayor and agreement reached as to the reasonable amount of damago, This course will only be pursuod where it is otherwise impossible to doal directly with the owner or some authorized represontative. 4. Tho Acting Town Major will also obtain a receipt from the Fronch authorities showing that all "property de cantonn- oment" which had been delivored by them for use of Amorican Troops has been returned to thom in good condition. Instructions rolativo to the disposition of all Amorican "property do can- tonnoment" such as couchottes and stoves will be issued later by this office. 5. The Acting Toun Major OF LEROUVILLE vill remain on dutt at LEROUVILLE at least 24. hours, or as much longer as may bo nocossary, after the departure of the last unit of the Division that entrains at LER CUVILLE. 6. The Acting Town Major of SAMPIGNY will likewise remain at SAMPIGNY 24 hours, or as much longer as may be necessary, aftor the doparture of the last unit of the Division that entrains at SAMPIGNY- 7. The Acting Town injors of SAMPIGNY and LEROUVILLE vill see that before the last unit ontraining from their respe ctive towns departs, that the area in the vicinity of the entraining point is thoroughly policed.
