THE FEDERAL SECURITY AGENCY WASHINGTON Office of THE ADMINISTRATOR RECEIVED January 30, 1951 JAN 30 1951 WILLIAM D. HASSETT Dear Bill: The enclosed letter of November 30 addressed to the President by Dr. Channing Frothingham regarding the status of the national health insurance proposal was referred by you to the Federal Security Administrator for acknowledgment. Even though considerable time has elapsed since Dr. Frothingham wrote, we believe that it would be desirable and appropriate for the reply to be made by the President. Dr. Frothingham, an eminent physician, is a leading advocate of the health insurance proposal, and has given effective demonstration of his belief by serving as Chairman of the Board of the Committee for the Nation's Health. This committee, as you know, has been one of several private organizations that have given unstinted support to the President's health program. For such help as it may be, we are taking the liberty of enclosing a suggested draft reply for the President to Dr. Frothingham. Sincerely yours, Oscar R.
