2-0 Lineo In, Nebraska Fe brua ry 11, 1946 miscel 28. The Hon. Ernest M. Truman, Boroles s President, United States, RAMORAL 1 Washington, D. C. Con - Dear Dir: Since you ask for the opinion of the people, here is mine. For God's sake get rid of Chester Bowles and his regiment. This count ry is sick and tired of being run by a bunch of government paid men who don't know straight up about business. We have been told for to ur years that the men who fought this war were fighting to preserve the "Ame ri can way of life." But the present system isn't the Ame ri can way of life by any means. The war is over, and the count ry ought to be running on normal by now if it were left to the business men to handle their own affairs. Certainly, they can do it better than Chester Powles and a lot of other office holders in Washing ton. while these strikes are go ing on we are without soap, sugar, and a lot of othe: r things which are being held up because of what Chester Bowles orders. It is very apparent tha t he is doing his best to keep his job regardless of what the count ry wants, and is being high pressured by the CIO that the country wants him. They can work that kind of a game because they are organized, but the re are thousands of unorganized people who don't care to be dietated to in that fashion, but who haven't the organi- zation back of them to make it known. It's very appar- ent that these strike rs are trying to take all the pro- fits out of industry even though $8.90 isn't en ough for them to live on. I know plenty of people wh o aren't getting anything like that and yet manage to live Further, and poor Mr. Reuthe r has to have $7,000 salary out of his men and for that privilege he stages another strike in order to get the money to pay his salary I wonder what they'd do without industria] nercica to pay their wages. I know that some of us people have to live on the income we get from these industries and we aren't asking the government to pay it. Let's get ba ck to our American way of life and cut out the frills. Very Eruly yours
