My dear Mr. Scott:
This is to acknowledge and to thank you
for your telegram of October eleventh to the Presi-
dent on behalf of the Michigan Federation of Labor.
It was thoughtful of you to wire and the President
wants me to assure you that he will bear in mind
this recommendation of Mr. Robert Haggerty for ap-
pointment as Director of the Census.
