My dear Mr. Steelman:
The Secretary has asked me to reply to your memorandum
Fifty
of July 27, with which you enclosed a letter from Congresswoman
Edith Nourse Rogers recommending that Boston be designated as the
location for conducting that part of the next year's general
census which may be operated outside of Washington.
Enclosed for your information are copies of letter from
Mrs. Rogers dated July 25, our reply of August 1, and the Secretary's
reply of August 5.
Mrs. Rogers' letter to the President is returned herewith.
