The President
RECEIVED
The White House
Washington, D. C.
Dear Mr. President:
The enclosed letter from a combat veteran of action in
Korea expresses better than any words I might write to you the
interest of many hundreds and even thousands of these young men
who served our country in enactment into law of the so-called
Walter-McCarran bill. I feel it would be most unfortunate if,
#
after all the sacrifices that have been made particularly by the
Americans of Oriental ancestry in demonstrating their loyalty to
this country, the fight to remove racial restrictions from our
immigration laws is lost.
I hope very earnestly, therefore, that because of its
importance to the position of our country in the Pacific as well
as to many of our citizens you will approve this legislation.
Yours sincerely,
