My dear Mr. Smith:
Last December you were good enough to
write me about your interest in the Bushnell
Isen
General Hospital at Brigham City, Utah, and to
recommend its conversion to a school for Indian
x PP7 /280
children.
You know, of course, that the Interior
x6
Department is going ahead with this project.
Money for the conversion was included in & de-
X119
ficiency appropriations bill, which I recently
signed, and I am told that by January 1, 1950,
the first of some 2,000 Indian children will be
enrolled.
Your interest in this project has been
very helpful, and I appreciate it very much.
Very sincerely yours,
