FILED BY DR. STEELMAN 192-A on and MAY 21 1952 nail Int. social March 28, 1952 Dear Mrs. Woodward: Thank you so much for the report on the prompt steps you have taken to cooperate with the Conference Planning Committee on International Economic and Social Development. # One of the concerns I have had was that the agencies of the government might tend to central- ize so highly the lines of contact and communication between the agencies regarding Point IV and related programs that the people down below would be deprived of vital contact with one another. Certainly we want to encourage people at staff levels in all in- terested agencies to become acquainted with one an- other and to interchange their viewpoints and ex- periences. To do otherwise will rob our technical cooperation efforts of vitality and effectiveness. I sincerely hope the conference will be helpful along these lines, as well as the others we are all interested in.
