My dear Mrs. Spruill:
It is regretted that it is necessary to
send you a disappointing reply to your recent let-
ter. However, great numbers of requests for ex-
pressions of the President's views on various
subjects are constantly being submitted and the
heavy demands upon his time will not permit him
to respond to them.
I want to thank you, on behalf of the
President, for the friendly interest which
prompted you to write and to extend best wishes
to you and your pupils.
