My dear Mr. French:
I have for acknowledgment your letter
of January twenty-third and regret sincerely
that it is not possible to comply with your
request for the President's autograph. He is
80 extremely busy these days that it would be
impossible for him to comply with the many,
many requests for his signature which are being
received daily. I know that you will understand.
Very sincerely yours,
MATTHEW J. CONNELLY
Secretary to the President
Mr. LeMoyne French,
Mounted Route No. 7,
Ellwood City,
Pennsylvania.
