Dear Herbert:
Your letter of April second, addressed
to the President, with which you enclosed a
snapshot of your father, has come to me for
acknowledgment.
I regret that it is not possible
for the President to reply personally to your
letter. I know, though, that you will under-
*
stand how extremely busy he is these days and
how impossible it is for him to attempt to reply
himself to the thousands of letters that are
sent to him daily. You may be sure that your
interest in writing as you did is sincerely appre-
ciated.
As you requested, I am returning the
picture herewith.
Sincerely yours,
CHARLES G. ROSS
Secretary to the President
Herbert S. Fine,
6 Adams Street,
Medford, Massachusetts.
