Dear Senator:
I have your letter of April 18th
and am awfully sorry that we will be unable
to comply with Mr. Max Fowler's request that
the President autographx the Masonic passports
of two of his friends.

I will appreciate it if you will
explain to Mr. Fowler that the President
has been so unusually busy the past few months
that he has had to ask his friends to excuse
him from all autographing. I feel sure that
he will understand the situation.
Mr. Fowler's letter is returned
herewith for your files.
