My dear Mrs. Fischer:
I have for acknowledgment your letter
of recent date and wish it were possible to com-
ply with your request for the President's auto-
graph. Unfortunately, however, during these busy
days when the pressure upon his time is 80 great
it has become necessary for the President to sus-
pend the practice of autographing. I know that
you will understand.
