Dear Mr. Matthews:
I appreciated nost highly your letter of
January ninth requesting me to address the
Graduating Class of William Chrisman High
School on the sixteenth of May.
#
11
Nothing would please me more than to be with
you on that date but, conditions are such here
in Washington, that it is almost impossible for
me to make an engagement with any hope of being
able to keep it. On two occasions recently I
have had to cancel firm appointments.
I will say to you, however, that if conditions
are all right at that time I would like very
nuch to come but there is nothing sure about
if
it.
Sincerely yours,
HARRY S. TRUMAN
