Secretary Ross,
Executive Offices,
The White House,
Washinton, D.C.
Dear Mr. Ross:
I think the President's strike proposals
to Congress are shortsighted, vindictive, un-American, and
indefensibly stupid. So was his singling out of Messrs
Whitney and Johnson for excoriation, while keeping silent
about the part the operators have played in the matter
and the part Congress itself is responsible for.
I am not a union man. In fact I have had
some rather disagreeable experiences at the hands of cer-
tain unionists. But that doesn't blind me to the fact
that what the President is proposing is nothing but a
form of Fascism, though he doesn't seem to be aware of
it.
It's a pity he can't just go back to
selling shirts and ties, an occupation that would ap-
parently be more in keeping with his talents.
Very truly yours,
Relations
