Dear Mr. Truman:
You may speak for 140,000,000 Americans but you do
not speak for me.
I do not think any group of men has a right to
strike against the Government, but the picture is not as one-
sided as you have painted it. I am thoroughly ashamed of you.
I have been your friend - even over the heads of
many of my betters - and you have sold me out. The National
Anthem was a poor tune to play after you made your speech.
You not only sold me out but you sold me out to Senator Byrd
and Senator Taft. That I cannot forgive.
Franklin is turning over in his grave and Adolph
is smirking.
Very truly yours,
Gertrude Ozburn
P.S. And Mr. Ickes said, "I have to live with myself for
the rest of my life. And so do I. And so do you. May God
have mercy on your soul!
