Here is my protest to add to thousands
boof you must be receiving over the reprehensible

letter you wrote to Paul Hume who criti-
cized your daughter's singing. Truly she
has shown herself in an infinitely better
light by the splendid and courteous way she
met the critic's adverse opinions.
You lowered yourself by using such foul
language as "S,O.B; then we had to endure
criticism of our beloved Marines; and now
this disgusting letter displaying such a
dreadful show of temper. It is all shock-
ing to Americans in these worse than terri-
ble days.
When we consider the tremendous power in
your hands can we do anything but tremble
when you lose all poise and sense of values
(let alone courtesy) when a critic writes
adversely of a would-be professional artist,
even though she is your daughter!
And you, with such an uncontrolled temper
to have the final decision of using the dread
