P.P.F. 200 REV. DALE E. BOYER message 10/23/45 being 304 Walnut Place Chatham Village, Upper Darby, Pa. Con B October 25, 1945 The President of the United States Mr. Truman White House Washington, D. C. Honorable Sir: We wish to register with you our unalterable position of disapproval of the program of universal military training as you are now advocating. You already know all that has been said against your proposal, and it is our firm conviction that the proposal will not save us from the dread of another war, nor is such policy the best safeguard against the horrors of war. If I believed that our great \ safety was wrapped up in Brute Force I would have forsaken the Christian Ministry years ago and gone into a military school. The destiny of our country lies in her policies; in the face of TRUTH we cannot afford to think in terms of war -- you in high positions of authority, are entrusted with the responsibility of leading us in the fullest way of life that is possible. In every such effort we give you support. But not in efforts that Lead Ultimately To WAR!!! With the hope that any legislation favoring your proposal will be defeated, we remain, Cordially yours, Grace & Dale Boyer \
