Neighbors, guéss who yours truly had a chance to talk to one day, not long ago none other than Senator Harry Truman of Missouri and Vice-Presidential candidate on the Democratic ticket. At first, we were just a little jittery about talking to a man like him, because we had an idea he'd be so far ahead of us that we'd be lost but, when he said, "We've got a lot of work to do in Washing- ton," I sort of took to him because it wasn't until then, that I realized he's just folks like you and me. I told him I was acting as your spokesman, on this program series, and asked him if he wouldn't let me interview him concerning agri- cultural problems .SO neighbors, here he is Senator Harry Truman of Missouri. Senator: I know it would be unfair for me to ask you about all types of agriculture and what you would plan to do for the entire farm- ing industry, but, as farmers, we're wondering! Truman John, there's no getting away from the fact that farming is one of the biggest single industries we have in the nation both from the standpoint of the areas it covers, and from the numbers of dollars invested by the owners and operators. And for anyone like myself - to say I like or dislike any part of it could be unfair to the industry. would liketo say this I will say this, though, I've worked on a farm, and I know how hard farm people have had to work to accomplish their share of the victory drive. The whole civilized world owes them a debt of gratitude. TRUMAN 2,1000 NARA BE is
