Mr. Walter Bartlett
Bethany, Missouri
Dear Mr. Bartlett:
In the absence of Senator Truman, I want to
acknowledge your letter of the Ninetaenth regarding
Mr. Harold B. Treasure, who is interested in an appoint-
ment to Annapolis.
Your letter attention
of the Senator when retorns am
sure that he will in
be he glad will to be know brought to Washington, of your to the interest and I
this young man. However, we have already on file some
two hundred applications for appointments to this Academy,
and new appl are received daily. Even with the
expedited dourse at the Academy we seldom receive more
than one appointment a year, so the demand is greatly in
excess of the subply of these appointments.
We will be glad to place Harold Treasure's name
in the Annapolis file, and I am sure that when the Senator
next considers appointments to the Naval Academy he will
give this young man's qualifications careful consideration.
Sincerely yours,
William M. Boyle
Secretary to Senator Truman
